Mahmoud Bala Alfa Submits APC Senatorial Nomination Forms, Intensifies Kogi East 2027 Bid
Leading Kogi East APC aspirant, Dr. Mahmoud Bala Alfa, has officially submitted his senatorial nomination forms ahead of the 2027 elections, pledging strategic and development-driven representation for the district.

A frontline aspirant for the Kogi East Senatorial seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Mahmoud Bala Alfa, has formally submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development marks a major step in the unfolding contest for the APC senatorial ticket in Kogi East, as political consultations and alignments continue to gather momentum across the district.
Dr. Mahmoud, a political economy expert and development strategist, is regarded by supporters and political observers as one of the prominent contenders in the race, owing to his experience in governance, policy advisory, and national political engagement.
The submission of the forms, according to associates of the aspirant, reflects his commitment to offering what they described as “purposeful and strategic representation” for the people of Kogi East at the National Assembly.
Speaking shortly after the submission process, members of his political team stated that his decision to contest was driven by the need to strengthen the district’s voice in national politics and attract greater developmental opportunities to the region.
They maintained that Kogi East requires representation capable of influencing national policy discussions, facilitating investment opportunities, and advancing the interests of the people through effective legislative engagement.
According to the team, Dr. Mahmoud’s aspiration is anchored on development, inclusive governance, economic opportunities, youth empowerment, and strategic political positioning for the district.
Over the years, Dr. Mahmoud Bala Alfa has built a career spanning governance, public policy, development initiatives, and economic strategy.
He previously served as Political Economy Adviser at the Federal Ministry of Environment between 2015 and 2017. He also worked as Project Economic Adviser on development programmes in Kaduna State and the North-East Recovery, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation (RRR) initiative during the same period.
Political associates further recalled his involvement in the 2015 Kogi governorship election and his participation in political mobilization efforts during the 2019 and 2023 presidential campaigns.
Supporters across Kogi East have continued to canvass support for his ambition, describing him as a candidate with the exposure, network, and policy understanding required to advance the interests of the district at the national level.
