Tinubu 2027: LASG Grand Patron Empowers Yoruba, Kogi Communities in Kano, Mobilises Support for Abba Yusuf

Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide, Grand Patron of the Leke Abejide Support Group (LASG), has extended business empowerment support to Yoruba residents, Kogi indigenes and other communities in Kano State as part of efforts to appreciate their contributions to his personal and business journey, while mobilising political support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, ahead of the 2027 elections.
The programme featured business grants and financial assistance to business owners drawn from different communities, including the Okun, Ebira, Igala, Bassa people and other ethnicities of Kogi State living in Kano, as well as Yoruba residents from other parts of the country who live and conduct business in Kano.
The initiative, according to a statement by the LASG Chairman of Media and Publicity Committee, Bashorun MD Eseyin, reflects Abejide’s longstanding relationship with Kano, where he has lived and conducted business for more than 30 years.
Abejide Extends Empowerment to Yoruba, Kogi Communities
The statement explained that the intervention was designed to reach members of the communities with which Abejide shares longstanding personal and business connections.
Beneficiaries included people from the Okun, Ebira, Igala, Bassa and other communities of Kogi State, alongside Yoruba residents from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara and Osun states.
Other non-indigenous communities living and operating businesses in Kano were also included in the initiative.
The group said the programme was not limited to political mobilisation but also intended to provide practical support for small businesses, strengthen livelihoods and acknowledge the contributions of people who have been part of Abejide’s journey.
It added that the financial assistance was expected to help beneficiaries improve their businesses, expand their operations and contribute more meaningfully to economic activities in Kano.
LASG Mobilises Support for Tinubu, Abba Yusuf
Beyond the business intervention, the programme also provided an opportunity for political engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Leke Abejide Support Group reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, as it continues its grassroots engagement with Nigerians living outside their states of origin.
The group noted that Nigerians residing in different parts of the country play important roles in their host communities and deserve recognition for their contributions to economic and social development.
It also described the 2027 elections as an opportunity for political participation and stronger engagement among communities, while expressing its commitment to promoting what it termed purposeful leadership and meaningful results.
LASG Leaders, Elders Attend Programme
The programme was attended by the Director-General of LASG, Dr. Yomi Charles Olorunshola; members of the group’s Elders Advisory Council, led by Chief Jide Asa; and other officials and members.
Those present included Chief Oluseyi Omotosho, Dr. Smiths, Dr. Klinsman Modeyin and Abigail Ayeni, among others.
The group commended its Grand Patron for the initiative, describing it as a demonstration of generosity, inclusive engagement and appreciation for communities that have contributed to his personal and business experience.
It also acknowledged the contributions of community leaders, stakeholders, organisers and participants towards the successful execution of the programme.
LASG reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots mobilisation and people-oriented initiatives, saying it would continue to engage communities in support of Tinubu and Abba Yusuf ahead of the 2027 general elections.
