Aiyedatiwa Dissolves Political Aides, Plans Appointment of 1,000 New Appointees

The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the immediate termination of the appointments of all political aides in his administration, including Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs).

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, who explained that the decision forms part of efforts to improve efficiency and strengthen service delivery within the state’s governance structure.

According to the statement, the sweeping disengagement affects all categories of political aides serving under the current administration.

“In the ongoing drive to enhance efficiency and deepen service delivery, Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has relieved all political aides of their duties with immediate effect,” the statement read.

It added that the governor expressed appreciation to the affected aides for their contributions to the development of the state and wished them success in their future endeavours.

The statement further revealed that the move is part of a broader plan to restructure the administration, with preparations underway to appoint about 1,000 new aides drawn from the 203 wards across the 18 local government areas of the state.

The planned appointments, according to the government, are aimed at strengthening coordination and bringing fresh capacity into the system.

The mass disengagement follows a wave of voluntary resignations by some political aides in recent months, reportedly linked to political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
