Court Orders Arrest of Alleged PFIPC DG as Police Nab Suspect Over Forgery, Fraud Charges

A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be the Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), after he failed to appear for his arraignment on allegations bordering on forgery, fraud and impersonation.
Justice Mohammed Umar made the order on Tuesday following an application by the prosecution, which accused the defendant of repeatedly failing to honour court proceedings despite several adjournments.
Adeyemi was scheduled to take his plea on an eight-count charge, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, before the court sitting in the Maitama area of the Federal Capital Territory.
Although the matter was listed for hearing, the defendant was absent when the case was called. His counsel, Genesis Francis, announced his appearance but could not produce his client before the court.
Prosecution counsel, Wisdom Madaki, informed the court that the matter had been adjourned multiple times at the defendant’s request without any appearance.
According to the prosecutor, the continued absence of the defendant left the court with no option but to compel his attendance through legal means.
Invoking the provisions of Section 394 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), 2015, Madaki urged the court to issue a warrant for Adeyemi’s arrest.
After listening to the application, Justice Umar granted the request and ordered law enforcement agencies to arrest the defendant and produce him before the court to answer the charges.
In a related development, the Nigeria Police Force confirmed the arrest of Adeyemi in connection with the ongoing investigation surrounding the disputed Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
The arrest comes amid mounting controversy over the status of the council, which the Federal Government has consistently maintained does not exist as a recognised federal agency, despite the emergence of documents and conflicting claims that have generated nationwide debate.
Adeyemi has remained at the centre of the controversy after presenting himself as the Director-General of the PFIPC, a claim that has been publicly rejected by the Presidency.
The case is expected to resume after the defendant is produced before the court to face the charges against him.
